Soft Coated Wheaten Terriers are fantastic people dogs; they are very friendly and make excellent companions. The Wheaten is a lively and quick witted dog.
Owning a Wheaten requires considerable time and effort. Wheatens are renown for their vast amount of energy and great excitement at everything. They need regular exercise and their coat needs regular grooming, especially when young, to keep it in good, knot free condition.
As with all puppies, a young Wheaten puppy needs careful rearing and socialisation. Wheatens, like many terriers, can be stubborn, obstinate and extremely wilful. If you are thinking of owning a Wheaten, careful and responsible ownership is essential to ensure your Wheaten is well rounded, gentle, friendly and most importantly happy members of the family.
